Orvis’ Trout Bum Ballcap – My favorite hat…

What can be said about the hat that I wear so much. I’ve put 2 years of heavy use on my Orvis Trout Bum Mesh Baseball Hat & like a fine wine (or scotch), it only gets better with age. I purchased a replacement a couple of months ago at Chattanooga’s Orvis Retailer Feather & Fly, (actually, I purchased both a green & orange this time…) but I haven’t worn them as much because the worn one is trained so well. The fit, even on the new ones, is so comfortable & the style is perfect for everyday wear. I want to get the saltwater series, but I need to wait until I’ve actually caught some of the fish on them, as to maintain my legitimacy as an angler. (I don’t want to be thought a poser…) Anyways, the purpose of this post is to give a major endorsement of this particular piece of headgear. Two thumbs up! 5 star rating! Etc… I’ve included a few pictures for comparison between the old & the new, as well as some shots of the hat doing what it does best… covering my dome.

I’ve been a busy man…

For the past several weeks i’ve been working non-stop 16-20 hr days on the Wes Hixon project, which was completed yesterday at 5 pm. I created a 72-page catalog, a folding self-mailer, a complete logo redesign, business cards, a 10′ wide x 8′ tall tradeshow backdrop & a 36′ wide x 8′ tall tradeshow backdrop (yes, i said thirty-six feet), all in full hi-resolution. Last night was my first real sleep since before Christmas! Here’s a look at the smaller (10′x8′) tradeshow backdrop. The catalog will be posted online one of these days & I’ll link to it then. Visit Wes Hixon’s website on my links panel to the right.

A new look for Creek and Trail

I am currently working hard on a client’s design project, but made the time this weekend to design a new screensaver for myself. I used an old map of the southeast from the turn of the century (guess i have to specify early 1900′s now) which centers on the Smoky Mountains & the A.T. (my stomping ground for all things outdoor recreational)

Once in a Blue Moon

I have been waiting for this video for a few months & got it as a Christmas present. This does not disappoint. Wonderful cinematography, great casting & amazing fish, all with a great concept behind it (the mouse year). If you like this clip, you’ll love the dvd. A must have for all fly fishermen & a great look at the diversity in trout feeding behavior.

Outdoor Adventure and Travel

Outdoor Adventure and Travel. When I hear it, visions of the great outdoorsmen come to mind and I dream of a swift departure from the hectic, technology driven life we live. My mind wanders to mountain ridges & valleys, from fly-fishing in the Smoky Mountains to stalking game & fishing for salmon in Alaska.

Fueling those visions of grandeur is Wes Hixon’s Outdoor Adventure & Travel. Not limited to continents & countries, Wes has offered world-class hunting and fishing in some of the most impressive locations this planet has to offer for more than 25 years.
