I am currently working hard on a client’s design project, but made the time this weekend to design a new screensaver for myself. I used an old map of the southeast from the turn of the century (guess i have to specify early 1900′s now) which centers on the Smoky Mountains & the A.T. (my stomping ground for all things outdoor recreational)

Once in a Blue Moon
I have been waiting for this video for a few months & got it as a Christmas present. This does not disappoint. Wonderful cinematography, great casting & amazing fish, all with a great concept behind it (the mouse year). If you like this clip, you’ll love the dvd. A must have for all fly fishermen & a great look at the diversity in trout feeding behavior.

Outdoor Adventure and Travel
Outdoor Adventure and Travel. When I hear it, visions of the great outdoorsmen come to mind and I dream of a swift departure from the hectic, technology driven life we live. My mind wanders to mountain ridges & valleys, from fly-fishing in the Smoky Mountains to stalking game & fishing for salmon in Alaska.
Fueling those visions of grandeur is Wes Hixon’s Outdoor Adventure & Travel. Not limited to continents & countries, Wes has offered world-class hunting and fishing in some of the most impressive locations this planet has to offer for more than 25 years.

“Awe”some Brown Trout Oil Painting
Here is an amazing artist from Vancouver. This oil painting makes me dream of being on the river.
The Anytime, Anywhere Fly
Here’s an awesome fly with several variations. Similar to the ever popular wooly bugger, the “Anytime, Anywhere” is a fly that John Bolton introduced me to, which has been a very effective fly on many creeks & rivers. Below is a link to a “How-to” for this great pattern.
Tellico in Late September
Just found a few photos from a fly-fishing excursion up past Tellico Plains, TN and thought I’d share them with you. There was a week of rain & the water was high, swift & murky. Got a few rises on my dry flies & my wooly buggers got a few interested glances from several nice rainbows, but no takes. Still fun, as always!
